Terrifying video footage captures a Manhattan building consumed by flames, with thick smoke pouring from the structure.
The New York City Fire Department swiftly responded to the fire at 201 West 107th Street in Manhattan, initially reported as a 3-alarm fire at 8:49 am. Shortly after, the intensity of the fire escalated to a four-alarm situation.
By 10:30 am, the FDNY announced that the fire was under control, with fire marshals actively investigating the cause of the blaze. According to Paul Miano, acting chief EMS, all three reported injuries were minor.
When questioned about the fire’s origin, FDNY chief of operations, Kevin Woods, stated that the cause was yet to be determined. He assured ongoing updates on the situation.

During a news conference, a fire official revealed that the six-story non-fireproof building suffered significant damage, particularly on the top floor and through the roof, affecting multiple units.
Council member Shaun Abreu, representing various Manhattan neighborhoods, confirmed his office’s presence at the site and extended support to those impacted by the incident.
Residents were advised to steer clear of the area, as per an alert from NYC Notify, warning of potential smoke and traffic disruptions near West 107th St & Amsterdam Ave in Manhattan.
