A young woman, described as a “beautiful angel,” was tragically murdered after accepting an invitation onto a boat in a coastal town. The victim, 21-year-old Corinna Baker, was discovered deceased aboard a vessel docked at a former boat construction site in Cardigan, Wales. She was last seen heading to the boat yard on Thursday night, with her body located on Saturday afternoon. Police have apprehended a 29-year-old male suspect on charges of murder.
Expressing her grief, Corinna’s sister, Caitlyn, remarked, “Heaven is now graced with the presence of the most beautiful, funny, and strong-willed angel.” Authorities are urging anyone in the vicinity of Netpool Boat Yard on Thursday night to come forward if they witnessed anything suspicious.
Local residents shared that Corinna, known for her cheerful demeanor, had gone out with friends on Thursday but failed to return home. Witnesses noted that a boat at the scene was covered with black tarpaulin for forensic examination by the police.
Situated at the mouth of the River Teifi estuary in the town of Cardigan, the boatyard is a popular spot for anglers and tourists. The community, shocked by the tragedy, highlighted the victim’s family’s longstanding presence in the area as proprietors of a local pub.
A police spokesperson from Dyfed Powys stated, “There is an increased police presence in Cardigan following the discovery of a woman’s body at Netpool Boat Yard.” The arrested suspect, aged 29, is currently in custody on suspicion of murder. Authorities are seeking information from individuals who were in the vicinity on the evening of November 13.
Witnesses in the coastal town of West Wales observed heightened police activity around the boat yard, expressing surprise at the seriousness of the incident in their typically quiet neighborhood. Police cordoned off the Netpool slipway and surrounding roads as part of their investigation, which included the removal of a boat covered in black plastic sheeting late on Saturday night for forensic analysis.
