“Hamilton Penalized in Singapore Grand Prix Drama”

Published on

Lewis Hamilton faced a challenging conclusion to the Singapore Grand Prix as he encountered a post-race penalty on top of struggling with a brakes failure that almost thwarted his race. Despite the setback, Hamilton managed to secure a seventh-place finish, albeit barely crossing the finish line.

In the final stint on soft tires, Hamilton initially showed promise with good speed, aided by teammate Charles Leclerc yielding to allow him to pass and pursue Kimi Antonelli. However, during an overtake maneuver, visible brake dust and sparks from a wheel indicated potential brake disc wear, forcing Hamilton to cautiously navigate the track in the closing laps.

Despite maintaining a clean race, Hamilton’s position came under threat as he limped around the circuit, eventually finishing seventh ahead of Fernando Alonso. Nevertheless, a subsequent investigation led to a five-second time penalty for Hamilton due to multiple track limit violations, demoting him to eighth place in the final standings.

The penalty decision was based on Hamilton’s acknowledgment of leaving the track without sufficient justification while managing a brake issue, leading to the enforcement of the standard penalty for such infringements. This ruling was accepted without contest by the team representative and Hamilton.

Additionally, Sky has enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, and Hayu, along with comprehensive Formula 1 coverage across 135 channels. Sky offers exclusive broadcasting of practice sessions, qualifiers, races, as well as coverage of other sports like the Premier League, EFL, darts, and golf.

Alonso, who expressed frustration over finishing marginally behind Hamilton, criticized the situation, questioning the safety of driving without brakes and expressing discontent over perceived advantages given to competitors.
