WhatsApp is introducing a significant update this week, reintroducing a feature called About with a new twist. This feature, reminiscent of an earlier version from the app’s inception, is aimed at providing users with a quick and easy way to share updates about their lives.
Described by WhatsApp as a tool for sharing life updates, the revamped About feature is now more prominent, timely, and user-friendly, as stated by the Meta-owned company. Positioned at the top of the chat window, users can use a brief message and an emoji to convey why they may not be available to chat or what they want to discuss.
Users will have the option to customize their About status, choosing how long it remains visible, with the ability to set it to expire after a day or sooner, as well as manage who can view it through privacy settings. WhatsApp notes that the updated About feature will be available for all mobile users this week.
