Asda has introduced a new fixed-price meal deal for £3.74, including a main dish, snack, and drink, available to all customers without the need for loyalty cards. This offer replaces the previous three for two deal at Asda Food to Go counters.
The supermarket states that shoppers can save up to 50% by opting for the meal deal instead of purchasing the items individually. The selection includes own-brand favorites like the Asda Chicken and Bacon Sandwich, as well as popular branded items such as Doritos crisps and Coca Cola Zero.
The set price covers all products in the food to go section, offering a choice of 132 mains, 336 snacks, and 222 drinks. Along with larger Asda supermarkets, the deal is also accessible at all 478 Asda Express convenience stores.
Amy Wotherspoon, the Buyer of Food to Go at Asda, emphasized the inclusivity of the new meal deal, stating, “At Asda, we believe that great value should be accessible to everyone. That’s why we’re launching the new £3.74 Meal Deal that is open to all customers – with no app or membership required, and with a wide range of products to cater to everyone’s preferences.”
Asda’s top-selling main dish currently is the classic Asda Cheese & Onion Sandwich, priced at £1.42 and selling over 50,000 units weekly.
Comparatively, Tesco has raised the price of its meal deal to £3.85 from £3.60, with a non-Clubcard price now at £4.25, up from £4. The premium Tesco meal deal is now priced at £5.50 for Clubcard holders and £6 for non-holders.
Sainsbury’s increased its meal deal price to £3.95 from £3.75, while the premium meal deal now costs £5.50. Morrisons offers a meal deal at £4, including a main, snack, and side.
In other Asda news, the supermarket plans to renovate 180 in-store cafes as part of a £180 million investment. The upgrades will introduce digital ordering screens, table ordering services, and a new menu featuring dishes such as smashed avocado on toast, katsu chicken curry, topped salad bowls, wraps, nachos, loaded fries, and a range of pizzas in various flavors and sizes.
