An 18-year-old nursery worker, Thomas Waller, was sentenced to 10 years in jail after being found guilty of rape, inciting sexual activity, and taking indecent photos of children as young as three. Waller, who exploited his position at the nursery to gain the trust of two boys, was arrested after the children disclosed the abuse to their parents.
During his police interview, Waller remained silent, responding with “no comment” when questioned about the incriminating evidence against him, including his DNA found on the victims’ clothing. Investigators also discovered indecent images on Waller’s phone, further implicating him in the crimes.
The judge, in a poignant statement, highlighted the devastating impact of Waller’s actions on the victims and their families. Describing Waller as “cold, sinister, and calculated,” the parents of the abused children expressed their anguish and called for justice to prevent such atrocities from happening again.
Ultimately, Judge Harden-Frost sentenced Waller to 15 years in a young offender institution, with a requirement to serve 10 years in detention and five on license. The harrowing ordeal has left lasting scars on the victims and their families, underscoring the importance of safeguarding children from such heinous acts.
