“Canada Announces Squad for U-20 Women’s World Cup”

Canada’s head coach, Cindy Tye, has selected the roster for the upcoming under-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland. The team consists of 21 players, including three goalkeepers, five defenders, eight midfielders, and five forwards. Additionally, six alternates will accompany the team to Poland to assist with preparations before the tournament kicks off on September 5 and concludes on September 27.

The players, coaching staff, and support personnel will convene in Lublin, Poland, on August 23, and later relocate to their tournament base camp in Bielsko-Biala on August 30. A closed-door match against Spain is scheduled for August 31 as part of their preparations. Canada, one of the 24 participating nations, is placed in Group B and will commence their campaign against England on September 5, followed by a match against Brazil on September 8. The group stage will conclude on September 11 with a fixture against Tanzania.

The Canadian team secured their spot in the U-20 World Cup by clinching the regional title for the third time at the 2025 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship.

Coach Tye expressed the team’s readiness for the upcoming challenge, acknowledging the stiff competition they will face and encouraging the players to approach the tournament with confidence and determination to represent Canada effectively on the global stage.

The full roster includes Noelle Henning (Michigan State University), Madison London (Creighton University), Khadijah Cisse (University of Kentucky) as goalkeepers; Bridget Mutipula (Florida State University/Vancouver Rise FC), Iba Oching (University of Iowa), Janet Okeke (Florida State University), Stephanie Schoeley (Providence College), Chloe Taylor (Vancouver Rise FC) as defenders; Olivia Chisholm (AFC Toronto), Jadea Collin (University of Wisconsin—Madison), Sienna Gibson (University of British Columbia), Jeneva Hernandez Gray (Sporting CP), Teegan Melenhorst (University of Miami), Ines Nourani (University of Connecticut), Noelle Sather (Baylor University), Liana Tarasco (University of Iowa) as midfielders; Sariyah Bailey (Louisiana State University), Annabelle Chukwu (University of Notre Dame), Kaylee Hunter (AFC Toronto), Lea Larouche (University of Iowa), Emma Yee (University of Illinois) as forwards. The alternates are Amy Medley (Arizona State University), Victoria Rocci (University of South Alabama), Taegen Stewart (Calgary Wild), Emily Wong (North Carolina State University), Kierra Blundell (Arizona State University), Melisa Kekic (University of Michigan).
