Following a significant weekend flash flood in the Grand Canyon, the remains of a Texas chiropractor and at least one other individual have been discovered, with concerns of potential further flooding as heavy rain envelops the canyon. Despite receiving less than 25 centimeters of rainfall annually on average, the Grand Canyon area witnessed a devastating flash flood event, prompting significant rescue and recovery efforts. The body of a 46-year-old man was recovered near Crystal Rapids along the Colorado River, with a second body also found, details of which were not disclosed by the park service. The flooding incident caused destruction to footbridges over the creek, altering the landscape significantly and forming what appeared to be a new river rapid.

Various key tourist locations within the Grand Canyon, such as Bright Angel Campground, Phantom Ranch, and sections of the North Kaibab trail, remained closed for assessment purposes, with rafting expeditions on the Colorado River temporarily suspended.
