The Canadian hockey drama series, “Heated Rivalry,” is adding more star power to its cast for the upcoming second season. Following a successful debut season with global acclaim, the show has recruited three new talented actors to join the roster.

The latest additions to the cast include Milla Jovovich, known for her roles in the “Resident Evil” franchise and “The Fifth Element”; Kevin Zegers, recognized for his work in “Gossip Girl” and “Transamerica”; and Paul Gross, a prominent figure in Canadian film and television, famous for projects like “Due South,” “Men With Brooms,” and “Passchendaele.”

The series, inspired by Nova Scotia author Rachel Reid’s “Game Changers” books, centers on the clandestine love affair between two competitive young hockey players, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Paul Gross will portray hockey league commissioner Roger Crowell, whereas Kevin Zegers will take on the role of Coach Wiebe, the head of the Ottawa Centaurs team. Milla Jovovich is set to play Dr. Galina Molchalina, a therapist supporting Rozanov.

The upcoming season will also feature a diverse ensemble of Canadian talent, including Charlie Gillespie, Justice Smith, Daniel Diemer, Shaheen Jafargholi, Emily Hampshire, and Priyanka. Hampshire, who previously starred in “Schitt’s Creek,” expressed her excitement for reuniting with series creator and director Jacob Tierney.

Despite its immense popularity, “Heated Rivalry” is not eligible for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. However, the show has garnered critical acclaim and industry recognition, winning multiple Canadian Screen Awards. The second season is slated for a Spring 2027 premiere on Crave, with filming already underway as of August 17.

This expansion of the cast and the anticipation surrounding the upcoming season of “Heated Rivalry” continue to generate buzz among fans and industry insiders alike.
