The one-game championship showdown is now scheduled to take place in Winnipeg on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET, marking a return to the previous format used from 2019 to 2025. The CEBL emphasized that the single-game final was deemed the fairest and most practical solution to determine the league champion.

Honey Badgers CEO Al Whitley expressed regret over the cancellation of the game, with Brampton having previously won both encounters against Winnipeg during the season. The Sea Bears, led by standout players Xavier Moon and Simon Hildebrandt, have defied the odds in the playoffs, securing a spot in the championship game with an impressive run.

Sea Bears overcame the Saskatoon Mamba and stunned the Vancouver Bandits in the Western Conference final, while the Honey Badgers triumphed over the Ottawa BlackJacks and Niagara River Lions in the East playoffs. Notably, both teams are owned by siblings, with David Asper managing the Sea Bears and Leonard Asper leading the Honey Badgers.
